5 Useful Pieces of Downloadable Information to Help You Learn Origami
Learning origami can seem difficult at first. But learning such a skill can prove to be useful in everyday life.
Origami, when practiced, activates the use of your whole brain. This enhances your problem-solving skills, creativity, and concentration.
You don’t have to become a master in order to benefit from it. A little practice each day is enough to exercise your brain.
Want to learn origami but don’t know where to start? We’ll take you through the best downloadable information for origami techniques.
That way, you have everything needed from beginning to more challenging difficulties. Ready to begin?
Let’s get into it!
1. Beginner Origami Downloadable Information
You can’t learn something new without knowing the basics, right? Origami is no different.
Before you begin, you’ll need to learn how to read the instructions. Traditional downloadable information doesn’t come with written words but pictures.
Along with those pictures come symbols, signaling what the next step wants you to do. Here’s what some of them mean.
A dotted line means to fold the paper in half. It should look like a V when viewed from the side.
Solid, Straight Line
A solid line specifies the crease that was made from a previous fold.
This means to fold the paper in the direction the arrow is pointing.
This indicates a three-step process. A double arrow means to fold, create a crease then unfold.
Arrow With Loop
A looped arrow means to flip the paper over. Using double-sided origami paper will come in handy for techniques involving this step so you don’t get confused.
An origami cat is great for beginners. It doesn’t involve any complicated folding techniques and can be achieved within eight steps.
If you choose to create the cat’s head and body, you’ll need two equal squares. The body is simply a triangle with a smaller triangle to form its tail.
3. Lucky Star
A lucky star is great because you can create multiples in no time at all. All it takes is a strip of paper tied into a knot and then folded inside itself. Once you created the basic shape of it, you’ll use your fingers to make indentations for a 3D effect.
4. Leaping Frog
This origami technique is actually easy and the end product is interactive! Want to learn more?
While it does involve a lot of folding, your folds don’t have to be perfect. The frog will still jump even with the thickness of the paper once completed.
Looking for something a little more challenging? Pyramids involve a lot of folding and if you don’t pay attention, you can quickly get lost reading the downloadable information.
Once mastered, origami pyramids have a lot of uses. They can be used as home decor or turned into decorative gift boxes.
Folding Up Thoughts
Origami isn’t difficult once you start practicing. As the saying goes, “practice makes perfect”.
Not only does learning origami give you a sense of accomplishment but it proves itself useful. It’s a great way to exercise your brain and expand your critical thinking skills.
