Perhaps you’re aiming to start a blog? Maybe you’re hoping to give your business an online presence? Whatever the case may be, you’re looking to start a website.

Now all that’s left to do is to find the right content management system (CMS) and get the website design underway. The question is, which CMS should you use?

As a novice website creator, you’re urged to utilize a content management system which is easy to understand and operate. Fortunately, there are many of these available to you. Without further ado, here is a top 10 list of user-friendly CMS.

1. Wix

When it comes to user-friendliness, no CMS is quite on the level of Wix. This CMS is built to make web creation easy, providing users with drag-and-drop web design capabilities as well as a variety of attractive themes.

However, this isn’t to say that Wix is limited. For those who want to go the extra mile with the design of their websites, this CMS does accommodate coding changes. Not to mention, it also possesses features to assist in SEO.

Make note, however, that in terms of functionality, Wix isn’t quite on par with CMS such as WordPress. It’s best used by those who are striving for simple, bare-bones websites.

2. WordPress

The most popular CMS in the world, WordPress isn’t quite as user-friendly as Wix but is still fairly accessible to newbies. Plus, as was mentioned above, it offers much more in the way of functional capabilities.

Where WordPress really thrives is in its thousands upon thousands of user-created plugins. These plugins are easy to use and can handle essentially every aspect of a website’s design.

If you’re not interested in utilizing a bunch of plugins, you could opt for a ready-made WordPress theme. There are countless themes available, some of which are free and some of which will cost you a bit of money.

3. HubSpot

HubSpot is one of the most user-friendly content management systems in existence, offering a drag-and-drop style of web design that is similar to that of Wix.

However, unlike Wix, HubSpot assists in every aspect of a website’s existence, offering user-intuitive tools for marketing, analytical, blogging, email, and customer connection purposes.

There is a downside to HubSpot, however, and it’s that it has a lack of plugins. For this reason, advanced web design in this CMS can be complex.

4. Drupal

As far as free, open source content management systems go, Drupal is perhaps the easiest to use. While it has a steeper learning curve than the commercial CMS reviewed on this list, it’s still fairly easy to get the hang of.

Drupal is best used for straight blogs or websites. While it could be used to handle E-commerce sites and the like, in order for it to do so, it would need to be controlled by an advanced webmaster.

5. Joomla

One of the top 10 CMS platforms in existence, Joomla is an appropriate CMS for small businesses, medium-sized businesses, and individuals alike. Sporting a user-intuitive interface, it can be operated with a rudimentary knowledge of web design.

An open-source CMS, it’s similar to WordPress. Note, however, that because it isn’t as popular, it doesn’t contain quite as many plugins as does WordPress. Nonetheless, it will allow you to build an attractive website in a fairly short amount of time.

6. Weebly

If you’re looking to start an E-commerce site, Weebly would be a terrific content management system for you to use. Specialized for E-commerce, it makes use of a drag-and-drop interface in order to accommodate simple web design.

Also possessing top-notch functional and analytical capabilities, it’s exceedingly easy to get the hang of. Note, however, that, when compared to some other content management systems, it’s a bit limited. For instance, it doesn’t allow for as much design variation as some others.

7. MotoCMS

Another CMS option is MotoCMS, an easy-to-use management system with a drag-and-drop interface. While it’s not as popular as some of the other content management systems on this list, it’s still capable of producing beautiful websites.

Note, however, that when it comes to analytics and functionality, MotoCMS falls a little short. It doesn’t possess anywhere close to as many features as WordPress, for instance.

8. Squarespace

Squarespace is undoubtedly on the list of top 10 CMS platforms. This commercial CMS is exceedingly easy to use, making use of a drag-and-drop interface to accommodate web designs of all kinds.

It even excels in the realm of analytics, providing users with in-depth information on page visitors, page visitation times, and more. In terms of features, it has all anyone could ever need.

Whether you’re starting a blog, a corporate website, or an E-commerce site, Squarespace is a terrific option.

9. Serendipity

Great for blogs and company websites, Serendipity is a free, open-source CMS that’s extremely easy for newbies to use. Making use of a variety of plugins, it allows for easy and intuitive web design.

However, when compared to WordPress and other high-end, open source CMS, it doesn’t provide as many functional and analytical features. Therefore, if you’re looking to really grow your site over time, it might not be the most appropriate option. For beginners, however, it’s rock solid.

10. Magento

The last CMS we’re going to discuss is Magento, a CMS that’s equipped to handle E-commerce sites. Possessing some of the best security that any CMS has to offer, it will keep yours and your customers’ financial information safe at all times.

Equipped to seamlessly handle web design, marketing, customer service, and analytics, it’s a great option for any of those looking to sell online.
