Question: "Message Error 2"
Answer: provided by erikemanuelli 93 days ago
- 1 + First, thanks for your help.

I've created in past a user, named "moderator" (which has also "admin" fuctions).

I've tried to send a message from "moderator" to my "admin" profile, but when logging in with my "admin" account, I still can't access my inbox.

I've tried to send a message from "admin" to "moderator", and when logging in with "moderator" account, yes, I can read the message.

Any hints?

Thanks again for your efforts.

Question: Site Redirecting to Another Page - just for some users
Answer: provided by erikemanuelli 100 days ago
- 0 + So, thanks for your suggestions.

I finally found out Klinkk had a malware.

Now it has been cleaned and the site should not redirect to the spam site anymore.

Here's what the tech person from Sucuri told me about the "cause" of this issue:

--------------------------------

It appears that the initial point of compromise was in fact via a user uploaded file. From the information I have available, I am seeing that it looks like this uploaded file created a broader vulnerability which was then exploited to infect files which were integral to your site.

Unfortunately, I cannot say which user is responsible for this, since that is not part of T log data that I have.

It does appear that the file was uploaded to an avatars section, which should probably not be allowing a PHP file to be uploaded. I strongly recommend that you look into sanitizing your user upload fields so that they only accept input of the appropriate type. That is to say, the 'avatar' upload would only accept images, etc. Please let us know if you have any further questions and we will be glad to assist you.

---------------------------------------

Now, the question is :

"How may I restrict the file types in the avatar upload option in the users profile (as to have just jpg, png - kind of image files)?

I really appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance.

- 0 + Thanks a lot for your suggestions and for your feedback.

Really appreciated.

You're right.

It took a while to find out the issue.

At beginning, it was reported by a single user, then few ones.

- 0 + The latest version of Pligg.

I've just tried the same on my profile, and it seems not to accept php files also on my side.

I was wondering then...

How that user then was able to upload the malware?

I do not see any settings available in the module.
