Pligg Support

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone is making money with their pligg site? Because I find it very strange that there is practically nothing available to even attempt making money from such a site. I can't even email my members whenever I want.

I have almost 13000 members and growing with almost 100 new members per day, but no idea how to monitize it since there is nothing available for it. (unless I hire a programmer).

So anyone who makes money with their pligg site and if so, how?

I was checking the feature in admin->voting: Negative votes to remove submission. In demo it doesn't work at all. When I vote for a story to have -1 votes on main page and set value in admin panel for 1 or -1 it doesn't work, nothing happens. The story is still on main site with -1 votes. In my Pligg version that I have downloaded and set up on WAMP, when the feature is set to 0 which should be disabled, it's actually enabled, and it means that if i have voted -1 on a story and the value in admin panel i set to 0 (disabled) then the story gets 'discarded' which is bad. When I change the value to any other number (not equal to 0) then this option gets really disabled, and nothing happens. To sum up: in demo the feature doesn't work at all, in my downloaded version (I did some changes but not to voting) it works the other way round (0=enabled) any other value =disabled. Can you check what's wrong guys ?

A lot of Pligg Users are absolute 'Newbies'! Nothing wrong with that. I applaud your efforts knowing they are based on dreams and aspirations of commercial success, contributing to your outside interests/activities and even furthering the betterment of the total online community.

But...... I think you forget your first goal which should be to get Pligg up and running then tested well. If there's a problem in your 'out of the box' install then changing themes, languages, and adding modules will most likely just add to your problems.

If your htaccess file isn't 'ready for prime time' then changing SEO methods will probably make things worse. If your users/visitors have issues logging in and/or posting then don't add Facebook modules and different themes until you have a good handle on the login issue. If your submissions wind up in the discard or worse bin then fix that first. Karma won't save you until you pay Karma it's due!! So don't try fixing your 'live' issues with the Karma module.

There are readme files for most everything within Pligg. All themes and modules I've seen have readme files. If you have a Windows based computer then do yourself a favor and grab a program like Total Commander and browser your downloads with it. You'll most likely see the readme files and can actually read them from that program. Print them out! Highlight and make notes on your printouts!!!

Whenever I try to edit a post in this support forum it gives me the error "No Category Selected".

I also strongly feel like we should have the ability to delete our own posts when we make mistakes. Or at least submit a ticket for deletion.

I fixed the issue with banned or flagged members being still able to share and do activities as normal. In addition, I am working on fixing the issue of the Edit button being displayed, even for the Group Creator and Group Admin, which is incorrect and leads to no effective actions.

The questions is:

If there is another Admin and Moderators of the Group:

1- None of the privileges are displayed to them
2- The second Admin can ban, flag, change role of the creator of the Group BUT CANNOT deactivate the Creator and Admin of the Group. However, a Moderator can do all!!!

Are Admins and Moderators supposed to have banning, flagging, editing members roles and status privileges the same as the Creator? Are they supposed to apply those privileges even on the Creator of the Group?

Please provide the answers so that I continue fixing the groups features accordingly!
Fixed the sort by Upvoted, Downvoted and Commented.
1- Now the pagination is accurate and no more blank pages.
2- Each of the above sort reflects the result of the page from where they were requested (I.e. from index page, returns the results of
links with 'published' status. and from New page, with status = 'new.
3- Private groups links no longer show in the result unless the logged in user is a member in those groups. It is filtered in the
if ($group_list) { statement that creates a list of groups ids in which the user is member.

I've incremented all the entries for the existing 15 extra to 50 in the pligg_links table in the DB, and in the following files:

/libs/extra_fields.php
/libs/extra_fields_smarty.php
/libs/link.php
/submit.php
/templates/YourTemplate/submit_step_3.tpl
/templates/YourTemplate/submit_extra_fields.tpl
/templates/YourTemplate/link_summary.tpl

But still my extra fields won't actually record any of their entries into the database. Am I missing something?
