Have I previously shared with you the custom Wordpress and Pligg CMS plugins that we developed to handle logins between WP and Pligg on pligg.com? I know that I provided that code to someone a few weeks ago when chatting in the IRC chat room. Our setup has Wordpress handle all of the user account data, and Pligg CMS references it for logins. There were a number of (mostly technical) reasons why I chose to retire the vBulletin forum, but what I consider to be the most important reason for switching to the current /support area is so that we can showcase Pligg CMS on our website. Pligg is a versatile system that can be utilized in a variety of ways, from social networks to community support desks like /support. The demo (http://demo.pligg.com) gives users a look at what Pligg looks like out of the box, but /support represents what can be done with a little tinkering and creative thinking. Perhaps a solution to some of the complaints would be to elect a few community moderators who would have the ability to change the status of posts. I haven't been able to moderate content much myself due to other work obligations (outside of Pligg). If anyone is interested in taking up this sort of position, please leave a reply to this comment and I'll review your posting activity to see if you would be a good fit. If anyone has any other suggestions on how we might be able to improve the current system, I'm all ears. Yankidank Do you think we should switch back to the old forums? 143 days
For Top Users page (members list), open topusers_data.tpl and at the very top, add: {php} global $main_smarty, $user; $main_smarty->assign('userLevel', $user->level); {/php} On the same file, add the code below where you want the badge to appear: {if $userLevel "verified"}SPECIAL BADGE HERE{/if} OxyThemes Adding a badge or icon for mods or special accounts 144 days
if you haven't done it yet, here is the solution: [link] http://discretefeed.com/test/add-badge-to-verified-users.html [/link] I posted it on my server. I'm sorry I'm having trouble uploading a zip file and it seems I'm not familiar with how to show html code in the answer here! Any help? redwine Adding a badge or icon for mods or special accounts 144 days
Bingo OxyThemes! I was able to use that code in link_summary.tpl and have it display next to the username, which is exactly what I wanted now how can I have it display everywhere that user may appear? Essentially I only need it to display at the bottom of the story, in that specific users profile page, and next to the verified users names in search results. I tried the code about in user_naviagtion.tpl but it wasnt wokring. Any ideas? Thanks! rafalny Adding a badge or icon for mods or special accounts 148 days
There are many sections in Pligg where the users appear, i.e. below the news title, the main user profile page, top users page, etc. Where or what section do you want the badge to display? So for example you want the badge to display below the news title, you can use the variable/code: {if $user_extra_fields.user_level eq "verified"}SPECIAL BADGE HERE{/if} OxyThemes Adding a badge or icon for mods or special accounts 148 days
UPDATE: I was able to create a new user level called "verified". I updated the database and it reflects correctly in my admin panel. Now I'm wondering what code I need and where to put it, to display a badge next to everyone with user level "verified". Also does any new user level such as this "verfied" on that I created, have the same power as a "normal" user? Thanks! rafalny Adding a badge or icon for mods or special accounts 149 days
Thanks for the reply jhawkin, I thought of just setting them as "Mod" user level but I don't want to give them access to deleting etc. Any idea how to create a new user level, to have the same power as a normal user but with an icon by the name? rafalny Adding a badge or icon for mods or special accounts 149 days
Well there's two user levels for posters.... Admin and Normal. Shouldn't be too hard to add an icon to represent them. And that code could be in the templates. Extending the user types might be a little more challenging but not much. Also, you might use the Karma system to add an icon within the templates according to karma level. Reminds me of running a web board that was originally coded by Albert Fong. That cgi (in perl) had five user levels with military looking badges when released by the CyberArmy. The Admin level user(s) would get a generals badge, stars or something and the users would get stripes added according to karma level. Just my thoughts. jhawkin Adding a badge or icon for mods or special accounts 149 days
I also like the old support forum. I think the voting system used here doesn't work really well. Some valid questions that didnt get enough votes are buried down :( OxyThemes Do you think we should switch back to the old forums? 149 days
The forum was actually a nightmare to maintain. It also took a ton of server resources which increased Pligg's operational expenses. ChuckRoast Do you think we should switch back to the old forums? 151 days
Yes, the forum was better for me. jhawkin Do you think we should switch back to the old forums? 151 days

Can you please let the community know how you fixed? I know how to do it manually but it would be really great if you can provide us some easy tricks. And can you please rewrite that blog on 'Youtube embed' that you wrote? The code doesn't work on pligg. Thanks. supertramp How to Install Pligg Modules 210 days
I applied a HTML/CSS hack to attempt to make the embedded video responsive. Hopefully it looks better on mobile devices now. Yankidank How to Install Pligg Modules 210 days
Great tutorial for beginners. But the Youtube video here is not mobile friendly and it breaks the design of this official pligg site. Admins should probably check it and share the tutorial (how to fix) with pligg community. We do face the same problem. Thanks. supertramp How to Install Pligg Modules 213 days
The readme.html file instructions for 'upgrading' are incorrect in places. There's a contradiction with the 'template' folder name change, and it should be included in the exception list for deletion. If you were going to delete it (which you shouldn't) you wouldn't bother renaming it. Secondly, you need to disable the modules first before renaming the template folder. Finally when running the upgrade /install/upgrade.php you need to rename 'lang_english.conf.default' to just 'lang_english.conf' otherwise it doesn't recognise it. user_3825985 Pligg CMS 2.0.0 RC2 Now Available 217 days
Hint: this can be fixed by commenting out the $usersql query and related code around line 201 in editlink.php suggester Why does edit story load so slowly? 220 days
Can you access your database from the command line? If so, drop the db and recreate by running the "install" folder again. That's considering you can dispose of the information in the db. Is the database on locahost host?.. if not, you may need to get granted access from the IP the pligg application resides on. mnault First install with a few issues 220 days
