Hi, I am also facing the same problem. I have just installed new Pligg version 2.0.2. When user is trying to submit article it display "Could not open socket" message. As per your last reply, I have already followed the steps but still it is displaying this message. Do you have any idea about this issue or what else should I need to do from admin panel ? Thanks !! I was really ticked off by the behavior of a lot of users here and what they "demand". And what tipped the scale and prompted me to post this is what I read on your blog "what constitute a bug report..." and remembered the old days of the Pligg forum and how much you had to go through attacks and harassment...until you set the boundaries... I am serious, there are some users here I will never provide any help before they change their manners.... redwine Etiquette when asking for support (Expresses my own opinion) 50 days
I completely agree with this post and have felt this way for a lonnnnngggg time! The one thing that really gets my blood boiling is the people that demand customization. I am astounded by the number of people who seem to feel it's completely fine to pay for someone to give them a haircut but when it comes to paying someone to customize their website they feel as though it should be done for free. I've had people threaten me, attempt to blackmail me, call me all sorts of derogatory words for over 8 years now. All because they either think everything should be done for them for free, or they've made a 3 dollar purchase of a module and think that the word support means that I will modify and customize it for them immediately for free. I honestly think it's a sickness with some people. They are not able to grasp the fact that people need to earn a living or eat. These are usually the same people that do not understand what the definition of open source means. When you explain to them that the term does not mean free, they get angry and call you names. These people will email you in the middle of the night, on weekends, every holiday, and even during my own fathers funeral. They think we are robots and are not human. I've been complaining out this for years and I don't think it's about to change anytime soon. This is also why I don't respond to many support requests. Because most of them are requests for free work or because they broke something when attempting to make modifications, or they are are just to lazy to search or read. Chuckroast is not talking about the size of the database. He said "In a shared hosting environment you are limited by the number of concurrent connections to the database. " This means less queries and a lot less strain on the server. redwine Fully working implementation to display Total Story Views in the story summary. 54 days
Actually good module. But, ex: i have 100,000 stories. create a 100,000 txt files. 100,000 X 4kb = 400,000kb (390.625MB) server size is lost for this one. i think database less than this size. pligglab Fully working implementation to display Total Story Views in the story summary. 54 days
This is not correct. In a shared hosting environment you are limited by the number of concurrent connections to the database. A simple txt file which is usually about 4kb for each story is much less than using the database which adds a lot of extra unnecessary data each time.. Since the goal is to only grab the number, doing it through tiny little txt files is actually much less load on your server. this module create a multiple text file. every story for create a file. server is too much load. pligglab Fully working implementation to display Total Story Views in the story summary. 55 days

You are in the wrong post. This error has nothing to do with what is discussed here. This post is for the saved stories in the side bar! redwine Solution fro the sidebar saved stories to display only those belonging to the logged-in user 121 days

If you're not familiar with Git or SVN, then I suggest starting out with a GUI (graphical user interface) program to learn the basics of Git. Below are 2 different free software applications that you can use with Git, which should make it easier to pick up the lingo and processes. Both applications have text or video tutorials available online with a quick Google. http://www.sourcetreeapp.com/ http://www.collab.net/giteyeapp/ If you're familiar with the command line (as a Linux user or server admin), then you may be okay with learning Git from scratch. You can do this by following tutorials like the ones I've listed below. http://lifehacker.com/5983680/how-the-heck-do-i-use-github https://help.github.com/ Yankidank Repository for contributions and fixes 129 days
I installed Git locally on my laptop and did the following: 1-Forked Pligg-cms 2- Cloned it to my laptop The question is how to go from here. If i change a file in the working directory, stage the change and commit then push. 1-Will the push transfer the commit to pligg-cms or to my forked? 2- Will the push sends all the files, changed and unchanged or only the one that was staged and committed? 3- How do I know that you got the pushed commit? Please assist me on this so I can be more useful in sending you the changes that deemed beneficial and working. Thanks a million! redwine Repository for contributions and fixes 129 days
