Update, Widgets, & Modules, Oh My!

First I would like to shout out to Blake for making a contribution today. Donations haven’t exactly been pouring in, but every little bit helps. Make sure you check out the rewards page to see what contributors get.

After coming home from today’s doctor appointment I jumped right back into writing code. I managed to get a lot of stuff done today. First I updated the SFS Antispam Module. This module is very underused. It’s one of the most effective yet less than 1% of our users have even downloaded it. The premise is simple. When someone registers it checks their IP address and the email they are trying to register with against a database of known spammers. If they are on the list. They can’t register. You can also add spammers to the database.

The next thing I did was create a simple module to help Pligg administrators with their template modifications. If you activate the module and log in as the GOD user, you are presented with a popup on each page showing you the available variables for that page and what each is used for. A very handy tool for debugging template building.

Lastly I made an Admin Panel Widget that grabs the news here from my blog. You can add it to your admin panel and get my nightly updates delivered right to you.

Please consider making a donation to my cause. You can get some neat stuff for your Pligg site. Or if you are feeling really charitable (tis the season) you can get me something from my Wishlist.
