Sarcolemmal Saturday

Shout out’s to Julien, Guillaume, Franck, and Bertrand for contributing today. I got up at the crack of dawn to continue digging the 30 foot trench for the sewer line. I am glad to report that it’s about 50% dug. The weather is supposed to turn nasty here starting tonight with 55mph wind gusts and 18 inches of snow expected. Yikes! I don’t need to go anywhere till Monday morning, so I plan on writing code until my brain can’t take it anymore.

I’m sure my back will be sore my tonight. I got quite a lot of digging done today. My flu is starting to go away. Becoming less and less bothersome each passing day. While I was digging I came up with a couple new ideas for Pligg modules. When I mean ideas, I don’t just mean “it would be cool to do this” I mean I actually start mapping out the logistics involved and start writing out the code in my head. So when I sit down to write up the module the code just flows out of me like as if I’m almost possessed, or someone else is doing it. I can even close my eyes, put my head back and just type away while being half asleep. I’ve never tested how fast I can type, or how many words per minute, but I do know I can type faster than I can talk. Which some people may find a bit weird.

A lot of stuff I’m going to release first for Pligg 2 are helper modules. These are modules that will assist developers in designing other modules. We had the same ability in the Pligg 1 series where a module would require that another module be installed or activated before you could activate a specific module. One of these helper modules is gigantic. I mean it’s most likely the biggest Pligg module you’ve ever seen. I think it comes in at around 32mb unpacked. But it will add future functionality for other developers that is almost beyond comprehension. All these helper modules will be free of course and will be available from the Pligg forums. I’m not sure about that big one though cause I don’t think the forums allows for a file that large to be uploaded. So it may have to reside someplace else. Most likely that place will be Google’s code hosting so it won’t bog down the Pligg servers.

Right now I’m waiting for Yankidank to add Pligg 2.x.x as one of the available options in the free modules forum. Only he has access to that part, so hopefully he will get that taken care of later tonight.

Sitting directly across from me right now is a stack of unopened bills. It must be almost a foot high. I am terrified to even open them right now. That might be a task I’ll do in the morning. You can help by spreading the word of my blog and feel free to spread my indiegogo campaign. (only 9 days left) it would really help.  If you would like to contribute you can do so from either here or here.

Thanks and tune in tomorrow
